I started this journey with 1 1970s bathroom that needed renovated and dreams of adding a second bathroom and a kitchen that did utilize all the space. I went through the process of interviewing companies that have a team of people who do design, architect, construction, and permitting. The first 2 companies gave me a quote of only "labor". That absolutely wasn't helpful because I wanted to know how much the entire project would cost. I just needed to wrap my head around the cost of renovating a bathroom, adding a bathroom, moving the laundry room, renovating the kitchen, making my office a proper office but also needing a bed for guests and then on top of all of that, making the closets that I had, useful. When I told Avi this, he told me a rough estimate. It was so REFRESHING to have an idea of what my dream would cost. It was honest and he was creative in solving my bathroom addition and the office/guest bedroom dilemma. His solution - add the bathroom, move the laundry room and create a Murphy bed/desk area that also included a closet. It's perfect and beautiful. So that was Avi, my first encounter with GKB. Then I met Kate. The super hero behind the project. She managed everything. She helped me with colors and faucets and cabinets and all the tiny decisions that come with designing new things. She also worked with the construction crews and plumbers and electricians. She scheduled everything, chased them if they didn't show up on time, gave them very clear instruction to make sure everything was completed to perfection. She hustled and worked extremely hard. Every email was responded to timely and very thoroughly. I met a lot of the people during this process and every, single person that I encountered with GKB was kind, respectful, ready to help out with anything. I absolutely made the right decision in hiring GKB. My project stayed on budget (except when I wanted more), my project stayed on time (minus one tiny shipping delay on cabinets), and my project turned out to be more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. My kitchen is stunning. My office is stunning. My bathrooms are perfect. The laundry room is functional. And every closet utilizes the space in the most efficient way. One last thing about GKB - they have an app. And EVERYTHING is on the app. You will know EXACTLY what you're paying for, you will see pictures of progress, you will sign off on every tiny detail and it is all aggregated on one platform. You don't need to gather receipts and check emails...it's all in the app and it's a game changer. This is my 4th renovation project and GKB is by far the best firm I have ever used. From the very beginning, it was so easy to work with this company. The apartment needed a gut renovation after a devastating fire. GK&B provided wonderful design ideas, were extremely patient with our abundance of questions and occasional change of plans, and were very professional in dealing with the building's (a co-op) high threshold requirements and demands. Hands down I would recommend them (and already have) to others seeking to do an apartment renovation in NYC. Renovating in a co-op building in the midst of COVID was a long and painful experience. But I can’t imagine anyone better to have guided us through it than the team at Gallery. We endured a three-month NYC construction shutdown, a difficult co-op board that imposed unreasonable restrictions, and two different leaks in our apartment during the renovation work (all against the backdrop of three young kids who weren't allowed in their school buildings). But Gallery navigated all of these obstacles like true pros, ensuring that there were no major delays to our project and that the leak damage was quickly repaired, even when it was not their fault. The quality of Gallery's work is top-notch and accurately represented in the photo gallery you can find online. Peter and Diana provided helpful design input along the way, and Diana made sure we ended up with not only a beautiful kitchen but also a functional one. Her commitment to perfection, along with our foreman, was truly impressive. Gallery's commitment to staying within budget is also unparalleled. Their estimate was higher than others we had received, but they were the only ones who had spent multiple hours on the phone truly trying to understand what we wanted. There were very few budget surprises along the way once we digested the initial number. I did decide I wanted nicer vanities in the bathrooms than what they had budgeted for (which I believe would have been from the same company that made our kitchen cabinets) so that was one big add-on. And the electrical panel in our 1960s building needed to be replaced, which seems common in old buildings and perhaps could have been predicted. We initially chose Gallery because of the one-stop shopping aspect, in that their services included an architect and design input, in addition to the usual construction work and materials. They have a huge staff and many people to consult if an unusual question or issue arises. We were not disappointed, as our relationship with the team, starting and finishing with owner and sales lead Alex, ended up lasting more than two years. Part of this was before we even closed on the apartment and were living abroad, and the rest was largely due to COVID and some final touchups that were not urgent after we moved in. In any case, we felt lucky to have Gallery on our side through all of this, and we would use the company again.

My project manager always made herself available depending on what my schedule would permit and was very professional. We were under the gun a bit because I had orthopedic surgery scheduled and needed the project completed by that time so that I could recover in my newly renovated apartment. I renovated my kitchen and two bathrooms with Gallery Kitchen & Bath. When I was deciding on a contractor, I received multiple bids and selected Gallery because they were, by far, the most professional, the bid included materials costs (I didn't know how to estimate them, I'd never done this before) and because they'd help me with the project. Gallery is larger than a lot of contractors and they have a number of project managers. I worked with Lori Callender. I also had an administrator who oversaw the project from a paperwork standpoint (permits, dealing with my fussy building, all purchases, etc.). Lori worked with me on choosing everything (except my kitchen cabinets, which I'd already ordered) and she had good suggestions, picked up on what I liked and guided me through the whole project. They set me up on a website where I signed off on everything they were ordering and I could log in any time to see how much I'd spent versus the materials budget. The construction went smoothly. The workers all wore masks, everyone showed up when expected, was respectful, and they cleaned up every day (apartment and hallway when needed) so that I could live and work in my apartment through the entire process. We also went through everything together very closely before we finished to make sure I was happy. They finished on time or under estimate and it came out beautiful.

We hired Gallery Kitchen & Bath to gut renovate our Brooklyn condo, taking it from a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment into a four-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom one. The scope of the project was substantial, and we knew we would have to work with tight tolerances and strict condo rules. We met with several contractors and design/build firms before deciding on Gallery. Peter Hartofilis, the point person on our project, presented us with a thoughtful and knowledgeable pitch, and an impressive portfolio of past projects. Even though Gallery’s bid was not the lowest we received, we were attracted to the all-in, change order-avoidant pricing model. The guidelines they gave us for choosing finishes and appliances were reasonable and honest, helping us to keep our budget down while giving us the final look and feel we wanted. Customer service is possibly Gallery’s greatest strength. Peter was enthusiastically committed to the project from day one. He and his team patiently listened and responded quickly whenever we had a question or concern. When a problem came up, it was addressed without fail. Plus, everyone who came into our home was thoroughly professional and respectful. The planning stage was long, but, in the end, we could not be more pleased with our experience and the result! Now that we have had some time to live in our renovated apartment and reflect, we can safely say that, if we ever had to renovate another space, we would choose Gallery again without hesitation.

This was the second renovation project I had undertaken and, based on my first with a different contractor, I knew that there were three key elements I would need: (1) quality of work; (2) someone who would handle everything eliminating the need for my having to quarterback; and (3) responsiveness. Avi and his team far surpassed all three. After doing the requisite diligence to interview contractors and their past clients, comparing price points, services offered and experiences had by others, I opted to go with Gallery. During the contracting phase, they were very attentive to my questions and objectives expressed. Once the work started, Avi and Colin were in regular contact to advise me of progress and matters requiring my input. I found that the site they uses for these exchanges, to centralize all of the information about my project and share progress photos was also instrumental in keeping everyone aligned and avoid miscommunications. The care and professionalism with which they did their work was bar none, and there as always someone to answer my questions and address any concerns. After a long interview process of remodeling our home we decided to go with Gallery Kitchen & Bath for our long overdue bathroom project. It started off as our master bathroom renovation, we increased the size of our master, and then decided to add a walk-in closet. We love our new bathroom design and our office contact at Gallery, Joseph, who was extremely helpful with our selections and keeping us from overspending (in addition to Avi who worked on the design of our project and managed it). A few items arrived damaged and he let us know right away and re-ordered them, which we appreciated. We have since decided to remodel our kitchen as well because of how nice and modern our new space is. We were also inspired from some of the other kitchen projects we saw on their instagram. The kitchen is nearly complete and looks amazing. They started the renovations in the beginning of November and estimate about 2 more weeks until completion. I am impressed by their work super which was done efficiently and neatly. We agreed to having our home photographed and can't wait to be featured on their website! We plan to use Gallery Kitchen & Bath again for our other bathroom after we have some time to enjoy our new one! I recommend them with 5 stars!

Gallery recently renovated our apartment in NYC and did an excellent job. We recommend them without hesitation. We first contacted Gallery before purchasing our apartment. We wanted an estimate on the costs to renovate, to take into account in our purchasing decision. We then met Eli for the first time. Eli listened to what we had in mind and made suggestions. He gave us an estimate for the renovation we were considering. We then began working with Gallery on renovating our pre-war apartment. Gallery gut renovated the kitchen, baths and a few other rooms. The work took time, as expected. Gallery handled every aspect of the NYC Dep’t of Buildings submissions, architect drawings, etc. They worked with our co-op to obtain the necessary approvals. Our main contact was Eli, who was great, along with Jonathan and Aaron. All were terrific. As was Sam at Gallery who we dealt with often on updates, sometimes daily. Gallery has a very good E-system where selections are posted, reviewed and approved. Same with progress photos and the like. Emails and updates are sent often, sometimes daily. Gallery also worked with our decorator as the renovation progressed, and the decorator commented positively on the work done by Gallery’s people. You could see everyone involved wanted a good result, a final product that all would be happy with. And we are. The apartment turned out beautiful and Gallery did a great job. TLDR; trustworthy, patient, reasonable, professional. They're a full service shop, so I'd just recommend that you talk to them and if you see a rapport and things work out financially and logistically then hire them. Long version: I hired Gallery Kitchen and Bath after interviewing 3 or 4 other top rated companies. It was my first time dealing with contractors for a job of this size so I was anxious, and my main criteria in gauging the companies was their ability to listen, communicate, and of course if they're trustworthy. I decided on GKBNY because they showed the most patience with us when discussing the project (before signing) and that really set them apart from the other companies we talked to. GKBNY also seemed more willing to think and consider doing things outside of the box when it came to what we wanted done in the apt. In retrospect signing up with them was the right decision and we are very happy with the results. Because we opted for some custom materials and solutions, and because we changed some of our choices halfway through the renovation process, everything ended up taking much longer and was much harder than I anticipated. To their credit GKBNY were super professional throughout. Where anyone else would have been justified to show some frustration or demand more payment, they opted for simply working patiently around our requirements and around our schedule. On a couple of occasions there were some things done differently from what we asked (mostly due to miscommunications, not unexpected considering the size of the job). But how they handled these scenarios also sets them apart from other contractors I've dealt with in the past. What I've seen other contractors do when faced with the possibility that they've made a mistake is to immediately go on the defensive and become confrontational. GKBNY on the other hand calmly looked at what had happened, and quickly acknowledged, apologized, and addressed the problem. That's a sign of professionalism, and personally based on that experience alone I'd hire them again if I had to, simply because I trust them to be honest about what they do. Also I should mention that my apartment is in a high-rise coop. GKBNY handled all interactions with my board regarding insurance, notice letters to neighbors, working with the building's maintenance staff, etc. All in all they're a full service, experienced and well staffed firm that takes their reputation seriously and I am happy to recommend them.

Superb Job Renovating Once-Decrepit Brooklyn Heights Apartment

I enthusiastically recommend Gallery, who did a superb job renovating our once-decrepit 2-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn Heights. The project involved a full kitchen and bathroom renovation, as well as new electrical, refinished floors, new doors, new baseboards, and some rearranged bedroom closets. We had never renovated before and were quite nervous about the process but Gallery was incredible. The team made the process of choosing elements for our renovation extremely simple and intuitive, always offering a guiding hand when needed but also deferring to our choices. They also handled the process of getting necessary permits and co-op approvals seamlessly with negligible involvement from us. But, of course, it was when the project got going that Gallery really distinguished themselves. They beat the projected time frame for getting the work done by two weeks, and although our renovation in an old and neglected building presented several hiccups, they did everything in our scope of work within the agreed-upon budget. In fact, they did more. For example, when they realized various things we hadn't discussed were going to be a possibility -- such as crown molding in the kitchen and recessed lighting in the bathroom -- they did them free of charge. What is more, when I gave them the wrong paint color for my daughter's bedroom and the team started to paint that color, they got the paint I wanted and corrected the "mistake" (which had actually been my mistake) and didn't charge me for that either. Throughout the process they were absolutely dependable, courteous and professional. I'd choose them again 100 times over and definitely recommend them to anyone considering a similar project.

Forget about any horror story you have heard about contractors. Stop right here. This is the design-build contractor you want to HIRE. It was a breeze working with Aaron and Jonathan on our apartment combination project. We looked at quite a few design-build companies and chose Gallery because of the great communication and the fact that they were able to manage material purchasing and product selection for us. With this being our first project of this kind we were originally uncertain about the "all-in" total budget approach. Aaron patiently explained it and clarified all questions we had. We are very pleased that we stayed on budget throughout the process even though the project went 6 weeks over. Gallery is not the type of contractor who will bill you for unforeseen little changes. They were honest, took responsibility and pride in their work. During the construction, we got to know all the workers and really enjoyed having them around. They were respectful and diligent. Most importantly they were very experienced and able to give good input and make decisions on the spot. We lived onsite for the second half of the project. While it was obviously messy and frustrating at times, the crew did their best to make it as easy as possible for us. We truly appreciated that. Of course, like with any project of this scope, there were hiccups, changes and delays, but our project manager Jonathan stayed on top of every problem that arose and reacted fast. We were also very happy with his kitchen design and construction advice. Overall, we are very satisfied with our choice of contractor and how the project turned out. Our 3 bed, 2 bath Scandinavian mid-century apartment gets a lot of compliments, Everyone asks for our contractor's number. RECOMMEND!

It took me over a year to decide who to hire to redo my 1 1/2 baths and make a walk in closet. But Peter was the best. He stayed with me patiently while I changed my mind about exactly what I would do and totally won me over. He was with me every step of the way making sure that my concerns and preferences were always addressed. The work took a bit longer than expected but only because they found a major pipe problem that the building had to cover and they took care of this too. It was worth paying a little extra to have an all inclusive price for the labor and all materials and I felt like they provided a very good range of quality, choices and advice. It was a relief not to have to spend hours at stores to pick out items. I felt comfortable having them take charge and manage the project (I even took a vacation during this time) but it is always good to communicate with the contractors working on the project so they know exactly what you want. They use Buildertrend so you are able to track everything related to the project making it so easy and transparent. There were a couple of fixes that needed to be done in the end but they diligently followed up on them and I'm grateful to Frank and David for their support on these. I never felt frustrated, nickled and dimed or abandoned. They definitely aspire to do a great and not just good job and want you to be happy and are very conscientious about your home and keeping it clean. And in the end, I got the bathrooms (including rain shower) and closet I had been dreaming about and my guests keep commenting on what a great job they did. When I'm ready for it, I'll want them to do my kitchen next!

We're very happy to recommend Gallery Restoration, and especially Eli Zikry, our representative, after the fantastic job they did gut-renovating our kitchen. From the design plans to the finish work, they did a brilliant job. We were very happy with the original design Gallery provided--they really worked with our wishes and the restrictions of the layout, but of course once the walls were opened there were surprises. Our surprise gave us the chance to completely redo the design to have a much more favorable layout. Eli and Jonathan (the designer) were able to turn around a completely new kitchen in 24 hours. From the start of our project until completion, there where always workers in the space making progress. They were even there on two blizzard days when the city shut down. The complete redesign only cost us an extra week waiting on materials. At the end of the project everything looks so great--much better than we imagined. Our co-op board and neighbors were pleased with how clean and courteous the workers were. We've had two neighbors ask for their contact information. If we had another project we would call them in a second.

We could not be more thrilled with our gut renovated master bathroom, thanks to the impeccable work of Gallery Kitchen and Bath. Eli, our amiable and devoted project manager, was always in touch with us providing updates on the bathroom's status, as well as thoroughly communicating with the residents of the building about water shutdowns or noise. We started with a very outdated bathroom that had water damage and then discovered rotted beams after the demolition. Gallery dealt expertly with both problems and provided multiple waterproofing systems to prevent any future damage. The contractors who work for them were kind, efficient, and easy to co-exist with for the duration of the 5 week project. When a section of tile that we hadn't noticed looked off to Eli, he had the tile worker re-do it to be sure the job was of the highest caliber. Gallery offers guidance on bathroom design and fixtures, via their very helpful app, and we are so pleased with the gorgeous result and the usability of the bath, shower, toilet, and vanity. We've even had friends come by from out of state and tell us they'd like to mimic our bathroom in their house! Construction is a pain in the ass, especially when you are living in the construction zone, but we're so happy we chose Gallery, we loved working with Eli, and the end result makes us smile every day.

My husband and I hired Gallery Kitchen after our first contractor basically disappeared. We were total rookies in renovations and were desperate at that point. But boy, did we make the right choice. From our first meeting with Eli we felt much more confident and at ease. Eli was extremely helpful throughout the whole project. He was always reachable via phone and always on top of things. Jose, our foreman, was very courteous, always on time and an expert in all reno areas. Project started on time and was actually progressing much faster than scheduled until… we decided to go with different countertops than originally selected. That extended the project but it actually ended almost exactly on the day it was scheduled to end originally! We can't say there were no hiccups on the way but they were always addressed promptly and resolved as quickly as possible. I must start off by saying that I finally have a contractor that I will use for ALL of my upcoming projects. Before starting with Gallery Kitchen & Bath I had almost given up on doing any additional work to my house due to past experiences with other contractors. I gave Gallery a chance because their project manager Peter H convinced me by his professionalism and knowledge. He spent a lot of time with us and was very patient as well. I took a chance and it finally worked. From the beginning their words and actions agreed. There were times that we had some bumps or issues and we were a bit nervous and annoyed. However, their reaction to those issues and the adjustments that they made were timely and satisfactory which made use happy. We completed 3 kitchens, 2 bathrooms, and a full basement in less than 4 months! They just finished and their work came out great!! Their designer Jonathan helped us tremendously with our selections. Peter was always available via email or telephone. Their office staff, specifically Elizabeth assisted us with the ordering of materials throughout the project. She was on top of tracking our orders and making sure they came on time. To conclude, we had some small items that needed adjustments even after we were completed and they came back to fix them right away. This was our first home renovation so we needed a lot of guidance (kitchen, bath, basement, living, hallway, exterior waterproofing). The utmost important to us is finding a reliable trust worthy contractor and weeding out the bad ones. Gallery responded to our inquiry right away and convinced us they were the one. We wanted to find a builder that would take on the many requests, concerns, and needs as first time renovators. Also, we didn't want to find multiple contractors who worked on specific parts of the house. Gallery was all-in and can handle all type of jobs. We started with the exterior work (waterproofing and staircase) in August. The bulk of the interior work was done in the Fall/ Winter. There were some hiccups along the way but Gallery made sure to take care of it right away. Home renovation is never a straight A to B path so we weren't prepared when it veered off. We are very pleased with the gut renovation of our four-piece bathroom, completed by Aaron Popowsky at Gallery Restoration. Communication was the most important factor to us in selecting a contractor, and Aaron delivered on all fronts. He prepared his proposal when he said he would (the only contractor out of three to do so), and answered our calls, emails and texts at all times -- even weekends! Although we were out of the city during the majority of the work, Aaron uploaded onto the private portal photos of each day's progress. He was also able to guide us in the design process. He and Jonathan brought samples to our apartment; not once did we need to visit a showroom. We were completely at ease working with Gallery Restoration, and there was no attempt at upselling or unethical behavior. Some of their work is amazing and it really shows, other times it was a lot of tiny fixes and fine tuning that really shouldn't have had to be said. A lot of alignment issues, scratches and the mistakes. They WILL however make it right and try to fix/replace things that are clearly broken and or scratched, so as long as you keep on top of things, and point out issues, they will fix it.
